Good luck, Mr. Morris - I hope Buddha gets returned promptly. However, I would be very surprised if the Buddha-napper has a conscience, let alone reads the newpaper.

Cyberjournalist.net just ran an article about how iPad users are unwilling to pay for news. They will read it, but they want it for free. Not good news for the news media.

It would make me very happy to exercise my right, as an American, to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness while exercising my dog off-leash on the beach, in the park and in my own front yard , even if it virtually antagonizes everyone in town who knows nothing.

i am more offended by cigarette butts, beer cans/bottles, candy wrappers, bottle caps and ashes from fires. And bike riders that run stop signs and ride on the wrong side of the street. Dog haters ....get a life.

Dogs are everywhere unleashed because there is NO DECENT ROOMY PLACE to take them legally off-leash. The county leash law is perceived by most dog owners as completely unfair and therefore it is NOT working. If you don't want dogs off-leash everywhere, support an amendment to the current ordinance to allow for times and places to legally take our off-leash canine companions.
Dogs, like horses and humans, need to run free and untethered at times. They are a part of our world and deserve to be able to do so.Share the world with dogs and their human companions.We've depended on each other for thousands of years...

I believe there should be dogs allowed on the beach during non peak hours. For example... beaches get more crowded between 10am and 5pm... so if we could have dog off leash rules that allow dogs to be exersized between sunrise and 930am would be ideal. this prevents conflict with families and beach visitors during peak hours and allowes dog owners to have healthy pets. They do similar concepts on the east coast and even some places in Southern California. As a progressive community, I think we can find a way to make it work.

Absolutely, dogs should be allowed on-leash at any time, off-leash during less busy hours, say before 10am and after 4pm. As a great tourist destination, Capitola would do itself a favor by being more dog-friendly. We, like many others, travel everywhere with our dog and, no matter how beautiful or fantastic a place is, if it is not dog-friendly, we do not visit. By being more dog-friendly, Capitola can compete better with Carmel for tourist dollars.
